Southwold

7 miles away from The Westleton Crown

The quintessentially English seaside town of Southwold, with its historic pier, signature lighthouse and colourful beach huts is a must to visit. If you are visiting Southwold, take a stroll along the pier for a paronamic view back towards the town and out to the sea.

It has beaches, rivers, a busy harbour, arts and leisure facilities, excellent shopping in interesting and individual shops, and a charm that draws its visitors to return year after year. A horse drawn dray is still used through the streets and you can also enjoy a variety of boat trips from the harbour.

People love visiting the quirky bijou 70-seat cinema, the Electric Picture Palace, which was opened by Michael Palin in 2002. How many cinemas have an organ below the screen these days?!

Southwold is the home of Adnams brewery and its famous beers. Southwold has been renowned for its fine ales since medieval times and the Sole Bay Brewery dates back over 350 years. The Adnams brothers arrived to Southwold in 1872 and the business became a public company in 1890. Their award-winning beers are widely available throughout East Anglia, London and selected pubs in all parts of Britain; they are also incredibly popular at The Westleton Crown.
